The teams responsible for Heritage restoration of Christchurch Arts Centre Chemistry Building, the construction of the Russley Village Community Centre and restoring St Bartholomews, Canterbury’s oldest Church in Kaiapoi were recognised for achieving Construction excellence.
The New Zealand Commercial Project Awards celebrate teams delivering quality commercial construction projects in New Zealand. Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards are presented to entries nationwide. The Russley Homestead, a multi-purpose building for residents, sets new standards for design and luxury retirement village living.
As part of the largest Heritage Restoration project in the Southern Hemisphere, the Christchurch Arts Centre Chemistry Building has been strengthened, fully restored and custom-designed for UC College of Arts students.
St Bartholomew's is recognised as the oldest surviving church in Canterbury, with the first section opening in 1856. The opportunity was taken to repair damage caused by the 2011 earthquakes and remediate any deferred maintenance.
